Our network is our net worth.
In the industrial age, our net worth was determined by how many factories or industries we owned or it was determined by our material possessions but the biggest asset was undermined. IQ was more important than EQ. School systems trained kids to become great employees for factories and school systems still follow those outdated methods.
In the internet age, the biggest assets will always be people and relationships we have built. Our network or circle of influence will be our net worth. Our network can either be an asset in our life or it can be a liability because whom we know is always going to be more valuable then what we know. Moreover, our circle of influence and people we associate with influence the quality of our life as they have a huge impact on our thought process. People we associate with can either be dream stealers and become a liability for us or they can be dream givers/motivators and become an asset in our life. Same with us. We can either be an asset in someone else’s life or we can be a liability.
As it is said that people can either add fuel to the fire, in the event of any conflict and increase it or they can add water to the fire to defuse the conflict. The first kind of people will always be a liability. They thrive on conflicts and dramas. They will feel good by putting others down. They are problem-oriented while the second kind of people will always be an asset. They are solution oriented, they are up-lifters and are focused on long term goals and vision. We should always surround ourselves with 2nd kind of people but to attract those kinds of people, We should make sure that we ourselves fall in the 2nd category. Be an up-lifter of people and always look for reasons to add value to others. Be a giver and a cheerleader. Like attracts like, you will attract people like you and that's how your net-worth will increase.
