Recently I had visited health expo and ended up giving my number to a salesperson who was selling health products. I genuinely wanted to gather more information on their products, so I asked for their website and brochure.
I did receive the web link and she sent me 10 text messages with the brochure but nor the brochure or website had nutritional information.
She had scheduled a call with me to give me more information and to figure out if I had any questions. She did not call me on the scheduled time and date. She called me the next day out of the blue without informing me about the change in plans. She went on and on for 45 minutes about how good her products are again without giving me nutritional information or any other relevant information which will assist me to decide to purchase the product. She did not even ask me a single question or let me talk. Finally, I had to tell her that I am not interested and then she kept sending me unsolicited text messages till I blocked her number.
Based on my personal experience here are some Do’s and Don’ts of sales:-
1) Value the time of your customer.
2) Keep the appointment and be on time.
3) Ask questions to find out the need of your customer.
4) Talk less, listen more.
5) While listening, pay attention so that you can know your customer better.
6) Don’t try to sell anything so that you can make money, offer a solution to their problems.
7) Give accurate information about the products. Don’t brag.
8) Be authentic and truthful.
9) Don’t over promise the results
10) Don’t put down the competition.
11) Ask for their business and send thank you notes.
12) Add value and sell the solution, not product specifications.
